Superfoods To Clean The Body

Detoxing your body is a great way to renew your energy. A simple detox can eliminate symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, achiness, digestive issues, allergies, and headaches. Soaking in an Epsom salt bath is an excellent way to detox since Epsom salt contains Magnesium Sulfate, a mineral that can "draw out" toxins from the body. Check out our previous article Detoxing with Epsom Salt, to learn more.

Along with taking salt baths to draw out the toxins from your body, we recommend eating foods that will reboot your body. Eating superfoods can improve your metabolism, increase your gut health, and restore your energy levels. Try adding these superfoods to your diet to enhance your body and quality of life.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate is another food that has been used medically for years. They hold up to three times more antioxidants than green tea or red wine. On top of that, studies have suggested that pomegranates can lower blood pressure and reduce blood sugar levels. Half a cup of pomegranate provides 3.5 grams of fiber.

Garlic

Garlic is not only a very pungent food, but it is a great detoxifying agent. Garlic contains allicin, a chemical that aids in producing white blood cells and helps fight against toxins. Garlic also contains organo-sulfur compounds, which increase glutathione levels, sulfur, and detoxification enzymes.

Lemon

Lemon helps with detoxification and digestion. Lemons help break down and eliminate toxins in the liver. They also contain Vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect the body’s cells from damage. A bonus is Vitamin C is also great for the skin. The structure of lemon juice and digestive acid in the stomach is very similar. This means lemon juice tricks the stomach into producing bile, keeping food moving through your body and your gastrointestinal tract running smoothly.

Ground Flaxseed

Flaxseed is a plant-based food that provides antioxidants, omega-3s, and fiber. Omega-3 has anti-inflammatory properties and may relieve irritable bowel syndrome. Some medical trials have shown flaxseed oil containing omega-3 can help protect against colon cancer. Ground flaxseed also contains insoluble fiber, which helps stimulate regular bowel movements that remove toxins from the body that the liver has processed.

Beetroot

Beetroot is great for a quick boost in nutrients. Beetroot contains multiple nutrients such as vitamin C, iron, fiber, potassium, magnesium, and folate. Eating beetroots can lead to many benefits including lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and improved blood flow. Beetroots also contain antioxidants that assist in cleansing and detoxifying the liver so waste can leave the body faster.

Ginger

Ginger is a spice that has been used medically for centuries. The thick part around the stem, referred to as the rhizome, holds all of the plant's healing properties. Ginger is often recommended in cleansing programs because it can cleanse the body by stimulating digestion, circulation, and sweating. Ginger can reduce the feeling of nausea, bloating, and gas. In addition to this, ginger is loaded with antioxidants that boost your immune system.

Asparagus

Even though this veggie gets a bad rap, it packs a lot of nutrients. Asparagus contains a compound called glutathione, which binds to toxins allowing your body to excrete them. It is also loaded with sulfur and chlorophyll, which helps the body detox heavy metals. Additionally, asparagus contains prebiotic fiber, which feeds the healthy bacteria in your gut.
